Yes! It may start from 'a dare'... a drinking game encouraging pals to drink enough to make a stack of cans exceeding their own height. All good fun, but these are little ways we are gradually encouraged to build up our drinking and, before we know it, it has taken control of our lives. Drinking games of any kind simply don't help and many now consider the habit - and its serious health consequences – as just not worth a shout! Party season brings lots of drinking. In this edition, journalist Sophie Hull gives a timely warning about binge drinking – one of our biggest problems in society. Our cover story once again looks at shocking facts of the bingeing trend among youth and why we need a real cultural shift to make any difference in thinking. These days, it is socially acceptable to go out and get tanked with friends. But as Supt Robert Redfern points out, binge drinkers are a nuisance to society. The destructive path of binge drinking must be blocked before it becomes part of our identity. This season, set a limit – and stick to it.

What a fantastic month it was. I took my first bus ride on the Parramatta Loop. I experimented with some recipes from SASS issues past (remember the damper? Yum). I read some interviews and took in the advice from our Westfield style icons. I look forward next month!

Driving me Crazy

I am really concerned with the amount of drivers on the road today that actually can't drive. People are ignoring the simplest of road rules i.e. blinkers, checking blind spots, even stopping at red lights. Is this due to people's busy lifestyles that we feel the need for speed, hence why we have let go of these rules? Is it because we have picked up bad habits? Is it because we weren't taught correctly in the first place? Or is it just plain laziness? Whatever it may be, I strongly believe that everyone should go back to basics and learn how to drive correctly and – more importantly – safely!
